Other ideas for additional sections / documentation

* Strategies for building METS objects (appears already to be covered now by section 6?)
* Strategies for presenting METS objects to end users (METS Viewers)
* Strategies for sharing METS objects (METS as a transfer syntax) (or will this really be covered by profiles?)
* METS example documents: could either be the home for key mets example encodings, or provide topic based links to METS examples that live elsewhere

I was talking to Leslie Myrick about "METS, the book" during a coctail party at the Mark Twain Papers last night, and she was very insistent that we should try to get the book published and she thinks that Neal Schuman would be very interested in this type of material. She just forwared me a link to their contact form: http://www.neal-schuman.com/contact.html

Brian:
Good thought about the publication of METS, the book -- thanks for passing it along. It'll be interesting to see what kind of feedback we get from our readers. Maybe we can talk about this more realistically after we see what we get from those interested parties. Nancy

Yeah! Thanks Merrilee - Firefox did the trick. I could not get the add comment link to work from Safari.

Has anyone seen any comments yet? I know the due date is Monday (8/14) but I was hoping there was something to start on.

Update:

My responses to the outside editor's (John) comments were sent back to him sometime last week, so he can continue the final edits on this book.

There is one open issue: we still need a source md example - a quick search of my email shows we had discussed this but I don't seem to have an example, nor does there appear to be <sourceMD) in the full example.

While talking with Barrie a couple of weeks back at JCDL - he suggested we keep this version simple - that is PDF without links. Get it done at this level and then if we want to do a more complicated version with links etc we need to figure out who will be in charge of that documents maintance.

Talk with you all tomorrow.

From hot and sticky DC

Cecilia
