I might suggest using |
To support |
To check something more specific, e.g., that it's a known remote host like http or https. |

As-is, won't this erroneously tell you that remote URLs aren't supported if you use a Windows path and it fails to open? |

Oh now I understand, good catch. I've changed the logic to assume that one-letter protocols are Windows drives, and to also support |
Why not just use the scheme detection code we use everywhere else? |
I agree with charlie, we should be allow-listing http: and https: instead of trying to detect file paths in particular. |
wdym with allow-listing http(s)? I'm specifically only fixing the Windows case that turned out to be broken in #13585, without adding support for remote URLs. |
I think the suggestion is that this error should only show up if the scheme is |
Make sense! |

Currently, it is not possible to set a custom Python downloads JSON on Windows, as Windows paths can be valid URLs. ```rust use url::Url; fn main() { dbg!(Url::parse(r"C:\Users\Ferris\download.json")); } ``` Tested by #13585 (where it is currently failing CI)

This issue seems to be isolated to x86\_64 Linux, and affected at least Python 3.12, 3.13, and 3.14. The following changes that were introduced in those versions of uv are temporarily being reverted while we test and deploy a proper fix for the miscompilation: - Add Python 3.14 on musl - free-threaded Python on musl - Add Python 3.14.0a7 - Statically link `libpython` into the interpreter on Linux for a significant performance boost See [the issue for details](astral-sh/uv#13610). ##### Documentation - Remove misleading line in pin documentation ([#13611](astral-sh/uv#13611)) </details> --- ### Configuration 📅 **Schedule**: Branch creation - At any time (no schedule defined), Automerge - At any time (no schedule defined). 🚦 **Automerge**: Disabled by config.
