I don't know how to launch the game

I have installed both the VS engine and vsUTCS and I don't know what to do at this point. I tried looking around for some information (the manual, the forums, the wiki, the Github), but everything I have read was either outdated or confusing. I'm on Windows 10 and I used the installers for 10.0.17763 (my W10 version is 10.0.19045).

I'd like to mention that the only shortcut I got was for "vegastrike-engine.exe" and it doesn't even properly link to the actual file. I didn't get any other shortcuts added despite having clicked on "add shortcut" in both installers.

Hopefully, when the game is more developed, there'll be a more complete install program that links the engine and the game assets. In the meantime, the best way to run the game is to create a batch file on your desktop (extension of .bat). I've attached mine, as a text file, so you can see what it looks like. Have a look and then I can give you more direction.

Vegastrike-10 - Master Test - Copy.txt

Basically, you change to the directory that your vegastrike-engine.exe is located in, then execute it with the -d followed by the location of your uTCS files.

Also, best to not have spaces in your directory name for both engine and game assets. Batch files don't like those.

Yes, we need to find a way to connect the installers together on the various platforms. In the mean-time, we need to have some documentation together to help with this.

I tried doing that, but it didn't work. The batch file just opens up CMD, shows the commands and then nothing happens. Here's an image:

Nothing else happens, CMD just stays like this with no change.

Yeah, I've seen this before and noted it on Gitter. Unfortunately, the only way I could get the game to work was a little complicated. Here are the steps, and I can clarify any for you:

1. The game engine install should be fine. You don't need to do anything with it.
2. Do not download the installer version of the assets (uTCS). If you have, delete the installed files, but not the directory. You can reuse the directory in step 4 below.
3. Go to https://github.com/vegastrike/Assets-Production/releases and download the Source Code (zip) instead of the installer. They're actually the same thing. The only difference is the installer handles the loading of the files into your directory automatically.
4. Unzip this file. You can use the same directory as your previous install if you want, so you don't have to change your .bat file. However, check to make sure your un-zipper hasn't uncompressed the files to a sub-directory of your install directory. If it has, you'll need to edit your batch file.
5. Try running the game.

Let me know if that works, or if you need any steps clarified.

By the way, all "cmd/k" does in the batch file is keep the command window from closing after the program runs. Once you get this working, you can remove that line from the batch file if you want.

For step 2, should I run 'Uninstaller.exe' or can I just delete everything inside the 'vegastrike' folder in 'vsUTCS-0.9'?
