Adding speed cameras and bollards

Hi there,

I was wondering if adding speed cameras (and, unrelated, bollards) could be enabled, as it is for the security cameras.

I see that security cameras are in OSM quests, but the speed ones are not and perhaps that's the reason we don't have the option to add them in the app.

If this cannot be enabled, what's the best way to add a speed camera on the go? Add a note with a photo and have someone else add it?

highway=speed_camera (as well as barrier=bollard) is usually¹ mapped on the highway=* (instead of standalone node nearby), which StreetComplete does not yet support (see #6186 for details and volunteer work needed)

You could, but since they are not displayed on the map, you'd possibly be adding tons of duplicates (i.e. adding a note saying that speed camera should be added, while in practice it is already mapped).

Ideally someone would help with #6186 (comment) and that would allow for them to be added in StreetComplete.

Alternatively (or additionally), esp. if that is important for you to use it now, you could use SCEE (StreetComplete "Expert edition" fork), which allows for long press + Insert node into way which implements adding them already (although in a slightly more complex way).

I looked into SCEE, and when I try long-pressing on a road, I still see the same options as in SC.

Am I doing it right?

I'd be also OK with knowing if a camera exists there, but sadly no layer in either app shows those. If I would notice that it's not there, I'd take a note of it and add it myself via browser at home.

Any suggestions on this approach? 😊

Ah, yes, my mistake: I should've noted you need to enable Expert mode in Settings / SCEE settings in order for such more advanced options to become visible. That is because SCEE is designed to look almost the same as SC until you start enabling more and more options.

Yes, no solution for that in StreetComplete at the moment. (Apart from using that Open location in another app and then looking it up in OsmAnd or Vespucci or OSMfocus etc. to check for them; but that doesn't really count).

In SCEE, you can however create custom overlay which will show them (with highway=speed_camera for Filtering details).
