Intermittently forced to select a file twice before it attaches properly on MacOS Signal client

Overall summary

I use the MacOS version of the Signal client on my MacBook Pro.

Starting 2-3 years ago, if you select an attachment on my MacOS Signal client, it will draw the "select file" dialogue again, and you are forced to select the exact same file - be it an image, music file, anything.

This issue has always been intermittent - sometimes it won't happen for several attachments in a row, then suddenly, it happens again, sometimes a few times in a row.

This has occurred on at least 3 MBPs, so it's not hardware-specific. Again, in case more clarity is needed, the typical process is:

1. Click the paperclip to bring up the file selection dialogue / window
2. Navigate to and find your file
3. Hit "enter" or click "open" to attach the file (I've noticed it happening on either of these)
4. Watch as Signal does not attach the file, but instead redraws the "open file" file listing window again - the second time you select the same file, it always works. It never happens a third time.

It's not the end of the world, but it can be frustrating when you have to scan a directory with a lot of contents to find a given file and attach it, only to double click (or click "open" to attach the file) and have Signal disregard that request, and instead re-draw the file selection window so you are forced to select, again, the exact same file, which works perfectly the second time (always).

I have never noticed any patterns related to file type - images, music, text files, anything. It appears to happen at random.

Steps to reproduce

It is intermittent - simply attempt to attach a file of any type on the MacOS Signal client, and once in a while, it will simply redraw the file select window instead of attaching the file, and the second time you attach the file, it always works.

Expected result

File properly attached to chat.

Actual result

Instead of attaching the file, it redraws the file selection window, and the second time you select the same file, it always works.
