Pressing Enter after selecting an emoji doesn't send the message but sends more emojis

• I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

I am not 100% sure if this is considered to be a bug or a design decision, but I still want to give it a try, because it's annoying me quite a lot.
Whenever write a message and want to end it with an emoji, I open the emoji picker and click on the desired emoji.
Then I press the Enter key and assume the message to be sent, as always when you press enter (and not something like Shift+Enter, etc.).
However, instead of sending the message, it only inserts a second emoji.

While technically I can understand this somewhat, because the "focus" (or whatever) is now on this particular emoji, I think it's very counterintuitive.
I always have to click in the chat, remove the duplicated emojis and then press Enter again.
I quickly checked how WhatsApp Web is handling it, and there it will send the message when you press Enter.

Steps to reproduce

1. Go to any chat
2. Write something
3. Select and emoji
4. Press Enter

Expected result

Message is sent

Actual result

Another emoji is inserted

@scottnonnenberg-signal Sorry for the late reply, possibly I need to open a new report regarding this issue, but I'll try commenting here first.

I'm using version 7.56.0 in the mean time and still have the issue described by @major-mayer:

1. Open the emoji selection menu.
2. Select an emoji, it will be pasted into the message text.
3. Press the "enter" button.

Expected result: The message should be sent by pressing the "enter" button despite the emoji selection menu being still open.
Actual result: The same emoji is pasted again and the emoji slection menu is closed.
