Supporting Java 7 means a lot of extra work. Additionally it prevents us from using modern technologies.
As the most JavaFX projects at the moment are switching to Java 8 and a lot of JavaFX libraries (like ControlsFX) are already only available for Java 8 we should follow this trend and drop JDK7 support.
