Clean up the `rerun.utilities` package

We have a bunch of legacy cruft in that package including helpers that we dont use at all, or helpers we use _only_ in the DNA example. The latter could be inlined there.

It appears that the main purpose of these utilities it to make the Getting started guide more concise. It would seem to me that we should rather fix the getting started guide and use a better example.
