Performance issues with "Select All" in text filter (1 million rows demo)

If you click "Select All" in a text filter in the "1 million rows demo", unchecking boxes becomes slow.  Also if you close and then re-open the filter, you see an infinite loading spinner and the kernel becomes unresponsive (so at that point you have to restart the kernel).  Use the "B (as str)" column to reproduce this in the demo.
