VS Code Copilot Extension: Confirming enable/disable completions menu location #151903
-
Select Topic AreaQuestion BodyHello, Apologies if this has been asked or is detailed in a changelog somewhere, but I couldn't find anything on it. I just restarted VS Code on a Mac to let it update, and when I clicked the GitHub Copilot icon in the lower-right status bar, a dialog popped up saying the menu has been moved, and the actions are now available from the icon in the menubar (paraphrasing—I don't recall the exact message). I opened the dropdown next to the Copilot icon in the menubar, but there is no option to enable/disable Copilot for the language of the active file. I did find I could access the completions menu again from the tiny curly brace system icon that shows some other system-type options. Is this the new home for it? I also just noticed that there's no way to tell if Copilot is enabled or disabled for the current file. Is there a trick to expose that? Also, is there a way to assign a keystroke to open the completions menu? I used Ctrl-Shift+P and have tried both "Open Completions Panel" and "Enable/Disable Copilot completions", but neither provide the enable/disable toggle option. When I first started using Copilot there was no way to create a keystroke for it, but maybe something has changed and there is a way to get to it now? I enable and disable often, so I really miss the one-click option in the status bar after it got buried in the previous copilot icon menu (and now the little system icon menu). Insights appreciated. Thanks. |

It looks like GitHub Copilot's UI has been updated, moving the enable/disable option from the status bar to the system icon menu. Currently, there isn’t a direct status indicator for whether Copilot is enabled per file. You might want to check the latest VS Code keybindings to see if a shortcut can be assigned for toggling Copilot completions. |
