"Debug cell" not working in Jupyter notebooks when typings module is installed - typing_extensions module is required by jupyter notebook

My debugging issue seems to be related to this particular bug : #13139 which has been closed with the very unhelpful suggestion to uninstall the module. As the module is a required part of ipykernel, it is impossible to run jupyter notebooks with it uninstalled. You should reopen the issue and try to actually fix it.

@terramars that issue refers to typings and not typings_extensions
Also please can you share more details on the problem, when you say not working, what does that mean
Does the debug session start and you cannot stop/continue etc or break points are not hit.

Please could you enable logging as follows:

• Open settings & go into Jupyter->Logging
• Change the value to trace
• Reload VS Code,
• Attempt to repro the issue & then copy the output from the Jupyter output panel (use the command Jupyter: Show Output to get to the logs).
