Add local assembly references outside of the solution (like COM and so on..)

Describe the feature you'd like

I need to reference an assembly (dll) outside of the solution, but the extension reminds me that it doesn't work.
I'd like to be able to browse through local files for referencing and automatically write the configuration to the project configuration file, like the reference manager in VS.

@webreidi I don't think Roslyn would be involved here in creating a reference manager. Would likely be the project system or CPS.

@1m188 what type of project are you working with? are these your own local DLLs that aren't in packages or project-referenceable?

I'm working with a project about STK, which need to add COM component reference in the project, and when I add it on vs, I can find the operate ui like:

which can browse local COM dll to add into references of the project.

and I can't find similar function on vscode.

Thanks @1m188 for the clarification. I don't think this is an experience we'll be lighting up in this extension. This full reference manager in VS was handling a lot of scenarios and a lot very Windows specific. Given the nature of our extension and supported app types this would still be a manual task to complete. Visual Studio is going to be the best/complete experience for this for you still.
