The second "Engineering Improvements Milestone"'s general theme is related to performance. This is a little different than the general EIM backlog. We're using this as a broad bucket for things that might fit in that scope. It's more of a planning exercise, and separate backlog for pulling tasks from, and less of an official commitment.

A planning buffer for the second half of 2022. This includes Terminal features we expect to land in the second half of the year. Presumably, this is Terminal 1.17-1.20.
Due by December 31, 2022•75/75 issues closedThe first 6 months of 2022. This will help align internally with the OS release cadence. Theoretically, this will comprise Terminal 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, and 1.16.
Due by June 30, 2022•19/19 issues closedA primarily bugfixing release.
Due by May 31, 2022•98/98 issues closedThis aligns with the internal Windows organization's Engineering Improvements Milestone running over the US holiday season at the end of 2021. The goal of this is to take some time and get to the things that we just "never get around to". The category includes but is not limited to: - Fixing testing gaps - Moving common workloads onto shared libraries - Removing dead code - Improving standards conformance (preparing for C++20/23, grinding down warnings, improving static analysis) - Updating toolsets (fixing scripts, build pipelines, and other such headaches) This category excludes purposefully: - New prototyping --> Reserved for Fix, Hack, Learn weeks Changes should be low-risk to the product and relatively mechanical. Consider it a technical debt cleanup palooza. For more details, contact @miniksa.
