Is there any particular reason you see this as required? There are many occasions in the IBO Discord Server where we intentionally want the bot to ping a specific person or role, could you suggest how this functionality could be retained?

Perhaps it will only allow pings at the start of a message, and change command output such that it is impossible for user input to be at the beginning of a message and all intentional pings are at the start?

Seems like that could be quite involved and potentially restrictive. Is there any particular vulnerability you are trying to patch out?
