Dave: The reasoning was that you need a way to enter multiple lines of text before sending (and I do exactly that all the time.)

I think the correct solution would be to switch the normal enter vs shift-enter behavior when running on a non-pc platform

So

• enter inserts a new line
• shift-enter sends the message
• alternatively ctrl-enter to send the message, which is common for email clients

would be the best choice for a send shortcut

Though I would normally agree with @sbts with that particular shortcut, keep in mind, not all Bluetooth keyboards on the market are setup with a Ctrl or Alt key, (especially small foldable/portable ones for tablets) though most if not all contain a Shift key. Just my two cents worth...

Please have an option to just allow "enter" to mean "send message". It's simpler in the long run.

+1 for add option to allow enter to send message so that you can send message without leaving the physical keyboard or virtual keyboard by pressing enter key.

IMHO Android keyboard using isn't fully defined among apps yet. So yes, it's probably better having an option until such things will be uniform across apps.

This would be much less of an issue if pressing "Tab" changed the focus from the text entry to the "send" button (and pressing enter when the focus is on "send" changes focus back to the text entry). As it is now, if you press "tab" from text entry box, the focus goes to the back button, and pressing Enter causes you to leave the room.

Any updates? #394 seems is the same issue with this but both haven't closed.
