Option to disable tray icon

Description

There is always a tray icon when Riot is running and I cannot find an option to disable it. I wish Riot to quit when I close it, instead it keeps running in the tray.

Steps to reproduce

Open Riot desktop, look at the tray. Then open Riot Settings and under Advanced there is only an option to start on boot, but nothing on the tray icon. Both Telegram and Discord, and I think even Slack, support not having a tray icon. So does Gajim.

At times I wish to quit all messaging apps easily so they won't distract me.

Version information

For the desktop app:

• OS: Debian GNU/Linux buster/sid
• Version: 1.0.1 (this template needs updating and currently says 0.x.y by the way) on Flatpak 1.2.3.

Both Telegram and Discord, and I think even Slack, support not having a tray icon. So does Gajim.

I don't see this in Discord. I do see the ability to change the close condition (minimize to tray) but not the ability to hide the tray icon

Sorry, you are right, I seem to have thought that disabling Minimize to Tray would also hide the icon, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I am sure about Telegram at least,

You can't currently disable the tray icon, BUT you can disable minimize-to-tray so that close button closes it for realsies: #10184 (comment)

I came here looking for a way to disable the slack "notification area" icon to no avail.
