Regression: "Jump to the bottom of the timeline when you send a message" not working

Steps to reproduce

1. Got to Settings => Preferences => Timeline
2. Make sure the "Jump to the bottom of the timeline when you send a message" option is enabled
3. Dismiss the settings modal and go to a room with multiple screens of messages
4. Scroll back a couple of screens
5. Click in the "Send a message ..." box at the bottom
6. Type a message and send it (either by pressing enter or by clicking the send button)

Outcome

What did you expect?

I expected the timeline to be scrolled to the bottom so that my newly posted message is visible directly above the "Send a message ..." box

What happened instead?

The timeline did not scroll at all and the new message is not visible without manual scrolling.
