Getting User Access Token in Server Side Part of Custom IDE

Summary

Hi Everyone,

I have an Theia based Custom IDE, planned to run on Eclipse Che. I have a usecase where the IDE will be making API calls on behalf of the user using their API Token. Can the Server part of the IDE still access the Access Token or will the Gateway strip those away ?
