What is Brave Leo?

Brave Leo is a private AI smart assistant that enhances your use of the Internet.

Ask Leo to summarize a webpage you’re viewing. Or ask questions about the page, and get answers, clarifications, and other viewpoints. Brave Leo can also create content, translate between different languages, and transcribe audio and video. It can even have back-and-forth conversations.

Leo is free to use with limited access. Brave Leo Premium offers more models, higher limits and gives subscribers early access to new features.

How to try Leo and share feedback

Leo is available today for all users of the Brave browser desktop channel. You can access Leo via the URL address bar when entering a prompt or via the Leo button in the browser Sidebar.

Response accuracy

The accuracy of responses is not guaranteed, and may include inaccurate, misleading, or false information. Leo uses data from Brave Search to improve response quality. Don't submit sensitive or private info, and use caution with any answers related to health, finance, personal safety, or similar.

We recommend double-checking any Leo responses for accuracy. Please also provide feedback to us if you see anything concerning. To do so, click the menu next to Leo’s response and select the best option.

Privacy protections

See https://brave.com/privacy/browser/#brave-leo for more info.

Are my conversations used for model training?

No. Your conversations are not persisted and they are discarded immediately after a response has been generated.

How can I get better results out of Leo?

As with any AI, the more specific you are with your prompts and context, the better the results Leo can provide. Remember to give Leo clear, detailed instructions and, if you don't get exactly the answer you're looking for, try wording your query/prompt a different way.

Does Leo have access to live information?

Yes, Leo now has access to live information. This is powered by our very own Brave Search. For more information, see this support page.

What’s next for Brave Leo?

In addition to incorporating live info, we’ll be making improvements to Leo’s accuracy and user experience. We hope to release Leo to all Brave browser users in the coming months.

Tab Organization

On platforms where it is available, the Tab Organization with Leo feature allows Leo to automatically filter tabs by a selected topic. The titles and origins of currently-open tabs in non-private windows will be sent to Leo. Tab content and full URLs are not sent. BYOM is not currently supported; this feature uses Claude Sonnet for premium subscribers and Claude Haiku otherwise. This data is subject to the Leo privacy policy.

User Customization and Memory Features

Brave Leo supports advanced user customization and memory features to provide a more personalized AI experience. Users can enable customization options to set their preferred name, job, tone, and other personal attributes that Leo will use to tailor responses. Additionally, Leo includes a memory system that allows users to store and manage specific memories about themselves, their preferences, and important information. These memories persist across browser sessions and help Leo provide more contextual and personalized responses. Users have full control over their customization data and memories through the settings interface, where they can add, edit, or delete individual memories, or clear all memories at once. All personalization data is stored locally in user preferences, ensuring privacy while enabling a more engaging and tailored interaction with Leo. The memory feature is optional and can be disabled at any time through the settings.
