What is the official status/support of Borg with MinGW? #8708

The installation guide mentions WSL and Cygwin are experimentally-supported. I have used it on both and I can confirm they work for my uses. But what is the status of Borg built with MinGW for native Windows? It's not mentioned in the docs, but searching the issue tracker, it seems MinGW build failures are fixed when reported. Is it supported only on a best-effort basis? |

Guess the official status is "unmaintained" for the windows specific code (we don't have an active windows developer currently) and still "experimental" for using it. |

based in experiences from setuptools-scm on path handling - i recommend considering mingw unsupported unless specifically tested and handled |
