I switched to the recommended http based transport instead of rtsp and it works without any issues. For now this will have to do. |

I do have issues with the CX810 regarding the review/playback of the clips. On the left a screenshot of the codec of CX410 and on the right CX810. When playing back the recordings of the CX410 I get to them within 10s. Not sure if this is related, but I have also tried the tips written here: https://www.reddit.com/r/frigate_nvr/comments/1ak5j2q/frigate_with_reolink_cameras_using_rtsp_and/ The CX810 had H265 instead of H264 perhaps this is related to your issues as well |

To lower the resolution, I did it from Reolink Desktop Windows App: Settings -> Stream -> High (Clear) -> Resolution (2560x1440), 25 FPS, 4k bitrate, 1x Interval.
As for my config, pretty much what's written in the forums: But here is the part that you should care about (not full config) |

I stand corrected, I do see a difference but didn't pay attention to it before, in my case it is extra dead space on the sides and my main subjects didn't change. |

ok, extra dead space also sounds strange. but for me the reduced viewing angle is not fitting for my use case, guess i have to wait for a more stable 4K firmware |

Looking at your config you are putting a lot of extra load on the processor by applying the detect role to the main 4K stream. Not sure if soneone else has already mentioned that. Does your camera support a sub stream? if so use that for the detect stream i have mine set to 680x420 4 FPS as this is all that is needed for detection and motion. I am a Reolink users also but all my cameras are the E1 models Outdoor, PT, Zoom, Doorbell |

Resurrecting this thread, will the CX810 be eventually fully supported by Frigate? Was possibly looking to setup a Frigate instance with one of these as they suit my needs and budget. |

i also have a working config without significant artifacts and framedrops. the frigate logs stay clean. What settings did you choose for the camera in terms of framerate, bitrate and I-Frame Interval? |

Joining in here - I have just deployed Frigate and a CX810 - and noticed the sub-stream is extremely small and can't be changed. I'm having zero luck detecting my dog (important). |

i use the CX810 with the main stream for detection an then scale it down to 1920x1080 via frigate settings. That might be an option for you, depending on your camera position and your hardware |

How do you reduce the resolution in frigate for detection? Can you still
record in full resolution?

Can you confirm you get no stutter? I've replicated the config changes suggested above, but I get stutter every few seconds in Frigate (no stutter using the Reolink web app). |

I personally cannot get the Reolink cameras to stop stuttering every so many seconds. There is some kind of issues with their cameras. I really wish Reolink would figure this crap out. They don't care as their cameras work with their stuff and that is all that matter to them. I have worked with a technical sales specialist for over a year to get H.264 firmware and H.265 and both do the same thing. Message their support and let them know you are having this issue and maybe the more that complain the more chances are they will fix it |

@MrCaspan Have you noticed any improvements if you reduce the max bitrate? I just tried reducing it to the lowest setting (1024 Kbps) from the max. setting (8192 Kbps) and it seemed to be better, but not perfect. Even if this did completely fix it, I wouldn't put up with the degraded quality. |

The stuttering was driving me nuts too and found by preprocessing the http/rtsp (non-4k/4k) stream for the main stream with ffmpeg a la go2rtc and then using preset-rtsp-restream I was able to reduce stuttering. My non-4k cams look perfect now. I’m current testing with low-latency preset on 4ks to see if that helps. |

I simply pretended the RTSP or http streams in go2rtc. i.e., - ffmpeg:http://… or - ffmpeg:rtsp://… …and added input_args: preset-rtsp-restream to the record stream at camera level. I only did this for the record stream and left detect as is. I’m traveling atm but will post config when I can if this doesn’t help. |

Oh wow. I thought it was my machine that had issues with play back and the
stuttering, and I put it down to the fact the footage was clear on their
app so it must be my end.
I've tried viewing on a Windows and Linux machine with browsers and VLC.

Yeah I did everything like opening the RTSP stream in VLC also and noticed the issue, I even went to POE and hardline to each camera as I thought it was a Wifi issue, same issue persists Here is my thread on this with the team here |

I have PoE also, so bandwidth shouldn't be an issue, I always just blamed
my host machine.
Is it a h265 issue?

I've been doing some experiments today with 3x Reolink cameras. I used Frigate to convert the Reolink RTSP streams into Go2RTC, and the video feed and recording was smoother but not perfect or anything like the Propritary feed the Reolink app/NVR uses. I then tried using the Neolink (in a docker container) that converts that propritarty feed into RTSP then feeding that into Frigate. When it worked it was super smooth, however it would crash out within 5seconds and not recover much. Unsure what the issue was, my server resources, the docker image, camera feed issues, no idea. I'll keep playing with it and test. |

This is my Go2rtc config that I used and it did not help but maybe you can try for you Hope that helps you maybe.. so basically what I was doing is restreaming my feeds using go2rtc and then using those streams for recording and detect |

Just a tip but I use RTMP streams in go2rtc without ffmpeg prefix. then I use the restreams in frigate. I find that the RTMP streams are stable for reolink - on my POE cameras I have not had a single issue in the logs and my camera uptime is over a month now. I turned off the auto reboot on them. |

I just tried using neolink and my streams are perfect in Frigate now. I'd rather not have to use it but never mind. I'm still speaking with the Reolink "Senior Support team"... |

Yeah Neolink did not work for me, I set up 3 cameras to test and while they were smoother there was still stutter and looking at previous posts to Neolink Git shows the same errors. The meta data sent with the stream has bad timing |

I'm out at the moment, but I'll share my docker compose and config with you when I'm back. I'm pretty sure I am not seeing any stutter but I'll double check this later. Update on the Reolink support: they are telling me it's a bandwidth problem as changing the camera's bitrate to the lowest setting improves the issue. I am certain this is not the case... |

I used neolink-latest and added it as a HAOS add-on. Threw some more ram and CPU at the VM to make sure was not a bottle neck issue.. mind you it was better .. before it's almost like a frame was missing every 3 seconds so you see a car moving and then all the sudden it would just jump forward a frame or two. after using neolink it was smoother but it was like every 5 seconds there was no missing frames but I kind of like slowed down and blended a bit better but you could tell it was not right. maybe I can play around with settings something else will make it better but again I'm with you I do not want something third party in between unless it's something really simple I thought with frigate for almost 6 months to get it to where it is now the last thing I want is another intermediate program that causes me to have to tweak frigate and it it just gets ridiculous at that point in time.. I talked to my contact at real link that gave me my free cameras in return for me working to get this to work and to be honest it hasn't been promising. I'm trying to get them the information they need to fix this like I told them they need a switch to flip between h264 and h265 they refuse to do it. but they will give me custom firmware for h264 but then I don't get any other updates because now it's custom firmware. very frustrating |

I just tested the latest version of neolink as well and it uses a lot of RAM, but my stream was SO SMOOTH in frigate (and recordings, and in VLC restreaming) This is too brittle of a setup for me, so I will live with the stuttering from my reolink RTSP stream My synology also seems to be quite smooth so they must be doing something different compared to go2rtc/ffmpeg for handling timing errors Note I am on an E1 Pro, so different hardware but similar experiences... |

Hi All; I tired RTSP to Go2RTC within Frigate and I had constant issues with the streams dropping out. I also tried Neolink with zero improvements, same again, streams dropping in and out. What did work was using the http-flv from reolink into go2rtc within Frigate, and running detect/record on the go2rtc stream. My recorded and streams are viewable now without stuttering. http and flv need to be enabled within the Reolink Cameras. |

Video wise maybe - the RLC1212A is near identical, but includes IR LED's/Sensor. The CX series does not. For me this is a no. IR images at night are far superior where I live as there is zero ambient light (unlike urban/city areas). CX series would be good for people that have permanently On street lighting etc. I do not. |

the CX series has a much larger image sensor which will allow much more light in. The reolink cameras in general are not recommended for this reason, as if you really want good night time performance you should buy cameras with larger sensors (regardless of if they are color or IR at night). |

I found the opposite. I first purchased the CX410 & CX810 (and doorbell), and was very unimpressed with the CX image clarity. The image appears washed out / chalky almost at night, where as the Doorbell and RLC1212A have crisp sharp IR images. With the latter; I can also force Colour Mode (at night) and turn on my exterior house lights - and the image is better then the CX at night - so I can have the best of both worlds with the RLC1212A (coupled with Home Assistant, and automations for motion/lights/camera-colour-mode. |

i use Scrypted to rebroadcast the stream from Reolink , lower resolution for detect, highest resolution (h.265) for record. it works very well and very soild to me. TBH, i almost forget it exist. |

@NickM-27 So I am being told by my handler at Reolink they they are very eager to get Reolink cameras working with frigate. They are asking for an email address of someone to get this solved. Would you be willing to be this contact. Sounds like Reolink wants to fix these issues! and I want to make it happen :) let me know! |
