User request - add mile markers overlay to map

I find that it is not always safe or practical to stop the car at the carcass which, if I understand the app correctly, I would need to do to use the location function as it is designed. If there were mile markers on the app locator map it would allow safer, after-passing-by/off-highway, reporting.

Might it be possible to add mile posts to the roadkill app basemap. Sometimes, I'm driving on I-15 and will note a dead deer by the MP, but then when I get to where I'm going, I can't confidently identify where it was on a map to report it; if there was a reference for the MP on the map, that would greatly help.

react-native-maps does not have any native ability to load a feature service. The most probably route may be to bundle the mile marker data as GeoJSON and load using the RNM GeoJSON Component. The data could be refreshed as part of the build process.

I'm not sure what advantages this would have over querying the feature service directly. Maybe I'm missing something? Either way, I'm assuming that this data does not change often and bundling with the app as geojson would provide the best experience.

During the review of the new SOW, Amy Ehrhart notes that this is one of two higher priority items (the other one is #343 ). I'll add it to the PI Planning list for FY26 Q1.
