There is no difference between overtype mode and insertmode

While using if we mistakenly switched insert key means it shows same cursor for both insert and over type mode. it is hard to notice it while typing or editing existing text.

This is entirely managed by CodeMirror (the browser doesn't have any notion of an 'overwrite mode'), so it should be easy for us to detect when it's toggled. We'd just need to decide how to represent this in the status bar.

Marking starter bug. There are two things here, both of which seem like they should be easy: (1) add an item to the status bar when in overwrite mode - although we should fix #5682 first; (2) change the cursor style when in overwrite mode - it looks like CodeMirror already attaches a .CodeMirror-overwrite class to the cursor when in overwrite mode, so this might be easy.

If someone wants to pick this up, please check with @larz0 on the UI (where to put it in the status bar, what the cursor should look like). Thanks.

Confirmed that this is fixed on Windows and Mac. Should also be fixed on Linux.

Note that there is no Insert key on Mac for toggling this mode, so you can click on INS/OVR indicator in the status bar to also toggle this mode. Mac users -- let us know if it would be helpful to have a keyboard shortcut for this. Closing.
