I verified that my pull request (which was closed and re-opened as codemirror/codemirror5#1198) fixes this problem.

Which platform did you verify? I still can reproduce it on my win 7 and I just checkout the cmv3 branch.

My fix is not yet in the cmv3 branch. If you want to try it out, you have to checkout the randy/cmv3-htmlmixed-mode branch in the CodeMirror2 submodule.
