Hi @BianChang, Please install the spams toolbox first. Once installed, it will come with binary for mexTrainDL function. Hence, you don't find the code for the same.

I downloaded the SPAMS-MATLAB-v2.6 toolbox and ran the start_spams.m file on a Windows operating system. I installed the MinGW64 Compiler with Windows 10 SDK or later (C++). After completing these steps, I navigated to the "Fast stain separation and color normalization" or "SNMF stain separation and color normalization" folder and attempted to run the Demo_stainsep.m file. However, I encountered the following error:

Slow/direct stain separation is running because image resolution is less than 4000
Slow/direct stain separation is running....
Execution of script mexTrainDL as a function is not supported:
E:\Ph.D\Literature\Diffusion_model\CodeRelease_ColorNormalization-master\Fast
stain separation and color normalization\src_release\mexTrainDL.m

Error in get_staincolor_sparsenmf (line 4)
Ws=mexTrainDL(v',param);

Error in stainsep (line 35)
Wi=get_staincolor_sparsenmf(V,param);

Error in Demo_stainsep (line 33)
[Wi, Hi,Hiv,stains]=stainsep(I,nstains,lambda);

As the line having mexTrainDL shows the errors, I feel, SMAPS Toolbox is not running.
Can you please check whether SPAMS toolbox was added in the current working directory of MATLAB?

I first downloaded the SPAMS toolbox into a folder named Diffusion_model. Then, I navigated to this directory in MATLAB where the SPAMS toolbox is located. I followed the instructions provided in the README file and executed the start_spams.m script. Additionally, I ran the following command to add the SPAMS toolbox to the MATLAB path:

addpath(genpath('E:\Ph.D\Literature\Diffusion_model\spams-matlab-v2.6'))

I followed all the steps outlined in the instructions, which were as follows:

1. Download the SPAMS toolbox.
2. Go to the spams-matlab folder.
3. Run the start_spams script.
4. Add the SPAMS toolbox path to the current MATLAB session using the following command:

   addpath(genpath('PathOfspams-matlab'))
   

   (Note: I replaced 'PathOfspams-matlab' with the correct path to the SPAMS toolbox on my system.)

After successfully completing these steps, I proceeded to a subdirectory of Diffusion_model named Fast stain separation and color normalization. When I attempted to run the Demo_stainsep.m script, I encountered the following error:

Could you try another example as given at the below url and check whether mexTrainDL is okay?

If you still get the same issue, then I think, installed spams toolbox has issues.

I resolved multiple errors initially while working with the SPAMS toolbox. However, I’m currently unable to run the compile.m file. The issue seems to be related to an "unknown compiler" error, likely due to an incorrect path configuration for the compiler.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

1. Compiler Setup
   When I run the command mex -setup C++, I get the following output:

   MEX configured to use 'MinGW64 Compiler (C++)' for C++ language compilation.
   
   To choose a different C++ compiler, select one from the following:
   MinGW64 Compiler (C++)  
       mex -setup:C:\Users\Faheem\AppData\Roaming\MathWorks\MATLAB\R2021a\mex_C++_win64.xml C++
   MinGW64 Compiler with Windows 10 SDK or later (C++)  
       mex -setup:E:\Software\R2021a\bin\win64\mexopts\mingw64_g++_sdk10+.xml C++
   
   Renamed options file 'C:\Users\Faheem\AppData\Roaming\MathWorks\MATLAB\R2021a\mex_C++_win64.xml' to 'C:\Users\Ubaid\AppData\Roaming\MathWorks\MATLAB\R2021a\mex_C++_win64_backup.xml'.
   
   MEX configured to use 'MinGW64 Compiler with Windows 10 SDK or later (C++)' for C++ language compilation.
   

2. Path Configuration in compile.m
   In the compile.m file, I set the compiler configuration as:

   compiler = 'mingw';

   And I updated the path configurations as follows:

   elseif strcmp(compiler, 'mingw')
       % Update path for MinGW compiler and libraries
       path_to_compiler_libraries = 'E:\Software\R2021a\extern\lib\win64\microsoft'; % Adjust based on your installation
       path_to_compiler = 'E:\Software\R2021a\extern\bin\win64'; % Adjust based on your MinGW installation

3. Encountered Error
   When I run the compile.m file, I encounter the following error:

   ans =
       'unknown compiler'
   

I suspect the issue might be related to the paths not being correctly configured for the MinGW compiler or some misalignment with the SPAMS toolbox requirements. Could you kindly advise if there’s a specific configuration required for MinGW or if there’s something I might have missed?
