Drop Snes9x entirely in favour of BSNES

More bugs keep poping up. Not worth the time. Bsnes core for all is good these days anyway.

kept thinking the new snes9x core is good. truth is the latest updates to that emulator broke way too much compatibility now.

High profile hacks that only work in Snes9x

Sorry if I have to ask this, but... have you guys tested the hacks with the newest version of bsnes that has some features that can be enabled that help to emulate behaviors from older emulators (like ZSNES)? Would that help to get rid of Snes9x?

Yes, byuu / Near added some features to the main bsnes fork, in the Compatibility tab.

A rundown:

• Entropy for old demoscene hacks was none, low is the most accurate SNES representation.
• Fast math simulates an old bevahior in emulation where math operations were done immediately instead of having delays. Some older hacks relied on this behavior.
• No VRAM blocking was a bug in older ZSNES and Snes9x versions where VRAM blocking wasn't emulated. A few older hacks relied on this behavior.
• Echo shadow RAM was a bug in ZSNES where echo RAM was treated as separate from APU RAM. Many older SMW hacks relied on this behavior.
