Serials for Sega Saturn ?

Not sure if this should go here or in retroarch itself
I'm a bit confused about scanning Sega Saturn.
The dat file do contain the serial information, but RA seems to be still using crc (v 1.9.0)
I'm trying to scan the whole redump set and investigating some issues with some games not being recognized. (had to fix the rdb to get some of them working)
Did I miss a setting somewhere to switch between serial and crc scanning for Saturn ?
