WLED and Home Assistant are working perfectly. You can either build and compile with WLED source using the 1m memory and away you go. Here's my write-up on WLED Wiki for supported hardware: https://github.com/Aircoookie/WLED/wiki/Compatible-hardware You won't be able to enable all interfaces, however. I can also upload a build for you as well. WLED is officially integrated into HA.

This repo is the original stock firmware, copied from flash of the SP501e and stored here in case you need to ever re-flash to stock from WLED. Honestly, I have no idea if WLED/HA is supported in the firmware, via API or some other protocol. I highly doubt it. I never installed the app on my handsets or connected it to my wifi with the stock image. I just wanted WLED in the SP501e form-factor as the hardware design is a step up from other LED controllers, IMHO.

Sure - can you solder and flash an image?
