New features

This extension uses a different ID than the existing Control extension because the new Ultimate Edition update uses a different data structure. There is at this time only one mod on the Nexus that targets the new Ultimate Edition upgrade.

I think it makes sense to have two different extensions so that users who choose to roll-back to the legacy version of the game can still use the existing extension and mods.

Hey @ChemGuy1611 - do the older mods still function for the ultimate edition?

If so, does the new extension automatically modify the old mods to install using the new structure?

@IDCs - I did an update to support the legacy mods in this extension, even though some of them do not work. Someone may have to update the Loose Files Loader and Plugin Loader mods to make some legacy mods work again. I also added automatic install of Loose Files Loader and Plugin Loader.

Looking back at the previous repositories for the game, it seems that mods would probably still work. Seems like the Plugin Loader is still working, but the Loose File Loader crashes on me (at least on Game Pass version). Game still runs, but loose files are not loaded.

Now, my extension matches the existing extension's features, and adds:

• Xbox Game Pass and GOG versions support
• Proper launching of Epic and Xbox versions
• Additional installers for data_packfiles mods
• Automatic install of Loose File Loader and Plugin Loader

So an existing Control Vortex user could switch to this version of the extension, and their existing mod installation setup would not be negatively affected. I guess we could update the existing Control extension to use this version in the manifest, if you prefer to do it that way.

Hey @ChemGuy1611 - so I've been thinking about how to tackle this extension and I'm afraid we can't just replace the existing one with yours without its author's (reg2k) approval. Please discuss these enhancements with him as it's far more convenient for the user to have one extension capable of managing both game structures.

reg2k is also the mod author of the loaders you mentioned, so working with him on this will also ensure that the tools are updated if needed.

Going to leave this open for now - please let us know once you've had a chance to discuss this with him so that we can decide on the next course of action.
