Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I've been lucky enough to be one of those chosen to receive the recent DM-spam (see screenshot at bottom). Unfortunately there seems to be no way to report (or even delete) a message, leaving users vulnerable to spam etc.

Describe the solution you'd like
An option to report messages. Ideally this would also (maybe only optionally in case only local-instances rules are broken?) federate to the host instance so that it can be handled on their side too.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Blocking seems to be the only kind-of alternative, but doesn't achieve all desired goals as it doesn't prevent spammers / etc from continuing to message other people.

Additional context
While it's the spam that caught my attention, I think this feature would also be important for non-spam but nonetheless "bad" DMs (racist, transphobic etc).

This is the recent DM-spam, and the screenshot shows how there's no option to report a DM:

Scope-creeping, another user (on Fedia.io ) suggested that being able to disable DMs might also be nice to have! (though maybe admins/mods(?) can bypass the setting)

Tnat would be a separate issue though...

Hm, I thought it was better to relay it than not since it's related - but fair enough, I can make a dedicated issue for it so that it's easier to track.

edit: #1439 has been birthed.
