Resolves #56
This PR adds a lot of improvements, centering on arm64 support, but also pertaining to reporting and debugging in general on all macOS targets.
See #56 (comment) for a more details breakdown.
Due to an unresolved memory issue, arm64 support would be gated by a special environment variable-based flag, see #123 for details. This is to allow the many improvements of this branch to land into
mainand easier git management.
