Platform hooks for validating item data components #1146
Description
Right now the client will disconnect when receiving a hover event with invalid data component values. This is a bit brittle, we should have a way to do serverside validation of data component values to ensure they parse correctly and catch these sorts of issues before the client receives bad data.
