Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Different software projects have different ways to signal breaking changes, and communicate what to expect in a new version/release. Some examples:

Storefront uses semver as of 2.3.0 - but this is not documented.

Describe the solution you'd like

Document in release process and possibly in user documentation.
