Example:

  1. Create Dummy Display as 8:9.
  2. (Almost) All dummy resolutions are exact 8:9 aspect ratio as expected. The list is heinously large. Cool.
  3. "Resize dummy" to a specific 8:9 aspect ratio (1680:1890).

(My) Expected behavior: ((Exact resolution is available) -AND (the original aspect ratios set during dummy creation are still available) -AND/OR (the actual base aspect ratio of the newly requested ratio should propagate to the resolutions list.))

Neither happens.

Actual behavior: Only the newly requested ratio and a handful of expected ratios are available while all others, at least in my case, are similar to my actual physical display's set native resolution, 3840x2160 (16:9) is available while all other resolutions propagated to the dummy display previously are destroyed, excluding but a handful left even in the "more resolutions" menu.

See pic for the resultant set:

Yeah, this might happen on Intel (you are on Intel, right?) On Apple Silicon only the relevant resolutions should be present.

@meanaverage - do these additional modes work? What I could do is to intentionally hide (or better, move to "More Resolutions" the additional modes that do not conform to the aspect ratios defined by the app). Can you give a bit more info on your setup (Mac model, GPU type) - I'll try to recreate this issue on a similar test setup.

Hi, I'm on Intel Mac mini 2018 w/ my first monitor in line attached through TB3 from the Mac mini TB3 port. My second monitor is daisy chained TB3 through the first monitor. My "third" monitor is the DP connection from my AMD VEGA 56 eGPU DisplayPort to the first monitor.

first monitor = MAC MINI -> TB3
eGPU Vega 56 -> DP

second monitor = first monitor TB3 pass through -> TB3

I don't doubt that the additional modes presented work (the 16:9 ones) but they aren't of any use to me.

I moved the non-conforming resolutions to "More Resolutions"
