crash on viewing large files

Hi,

So I've been using visit3 for quite some time. When I view large files on
my laptop, after some snapshots my laptop will freeze for minutes. It seems
visit used up all the memory. Can you help understand this? The OS is
archlinux.

Hi Rui,

Can you provide some additional information when it freezes or crashes? I can see that happening
because it is using a lot of memory for the operations it is performing or there can be a memory
leak that is causing the memory usage to grow over time.

Some information that would be helpful.

1.  The version of VisIt you are using (e.g. 3.0.1)
2.  If you used one of the pre-built versions or built it yourself (if pre-built, which one).
3.  What type of data it is (generally the type of mesh the data is defined on)
4.  The size of your mesh.
5.  The specific operations you were doing with VisIt (plots and any operators applied to the data)
