Hello,

I have built visit on an AIX system and am having some problems getting it to work. The system I am
running on has no system gl libraries. I built a set of gl stuff using mesa version 6.4.2 in
addition to the mesa5.0 stuff that visit needs. I am having problems loading the GLU library. I just
built the 6.4.2 stuff as static libs and followed the instructions in the build notes to convert to
shared libs. I get the following message when I try to open a file on the AIX system remotely from a
workstation.

0509-150   Dependent module /u/home/ac/semeraro/VisitBuild/visit/visit1.11.1/src/lib/libGLU.so could
not be loaded.
0509-103   The module has an invalid magic number.
0509-022 Cannot load module
/u/home/ac/semeraro/VisitBuild/visit/visit1.11.1/src/plugins/databases/libMShapefileDatabase.so.
0509-150   Dependent module /u/home/ac/semeraro/VisitBuild/visit/visit1.11.1/sproc[[)

I assume I have done something wrong with the shared library. The file
/u/home/ac/semeraro/VisitBuild/visit/visit1.11.1/src/lib/libGLU.so is actualy a link to the
mesa-6.4.2 GLU library.

I dont actually need the libMShapefileDatabase plugin but cant seem to make it stop loading. I use
the plugin manager and unselect the shapefile database to no avail.

Anyone have similar problems?

Hi Dave,
The plugin manager is only for plots and operators, so you can't turn off
plugins that way.  (I say just delete it!)

Here's an email chain about GLU and shapefiles ... doesn't help get you
around the problem, but it explains why it's there:
