Is this repo actively maintained? It looks like the last change is quite old, and judging from the evolution of docker and docker compose communities, this project can become outdated quite fast. In case it is not, I would like to at least contribute if possible otherwise there is always the possibility of forking it.

Well, this repo specifically no, because unfortunately, I don't have access to the repo for changes and etc. But Since I really want to improve the project and I just don't want to see it die, at the moment I'm trying to revive it here. And if you want to contribute you are so welcome! I'm constantly monitoring this repo for new issues and etc, but it would be perfect if you want to send a PR or something to this repo.
