Noticed an instance of 'dbijAya' (under headword 'yama').

Question 1

Should we change the 8 'dbijAy' to 'dvijAy'. I vote for yes. Recall that the 'b/v' distinction is
very difficult in SKD scans, due to print quality. Also 'dvijAya' is meaningful ('dvi-jAya' - related to
'dvija' (twice born).)

Broader question

There are likely many other cases in SKD where we can make a quite convincing argument that
'b' should be 'v', or vice-versa.

Any ideas of how to find many of those cases?

I vote for keeping them as they are.
In Bengal, there is non-distinction of b/v. Therefore, bengali scholars used them interchangeably.

Correcting b/v inconsistencies will lead to various other problems like alphabetic misorderings of headwords

I vote for adding alternative headwords for finding purposes.

lead to various other problems like alphabetic misorderings of headwords

In our remake I would not worry much about that, but more about how to find words with possible variations in orthography.

Any ideas of how to find many of those cases?

The o_O old way comparison, no?

alphabetic misorderings of headwords

Note that all of the 'dbijAy' cases above are within text, not within the 'meta' line. So changing
'dbijAy' to 'dvijAy' would NOT introduce any alphabetic misorderings of headwords.

If Bengali scholars use b/v interchangeably, then they would be happy with or without the change.
Non-Bengali scholars would be happier with the change.

Since we aren't in agreement on this change at this time, I'll forego making the change.

Right.

We are in agreement - ghostwords, alternative headwords is the key as before.
