For STAC core we contemplated making summaries required, but decided to stop short of that. But we want to encourage their adoption much more. See radiantearth/stac-spec#965 and radiantearth/stac-spec#985. So we should talk about them more in the API, and include them in examples.

This relates to aggregation extensions, as summaries become much easier when API's can aggregate. I think #38 serves as an issue for that.
