Context

The goal of this theme is to serve communities in the PyData community with a theme that meets their needs. In order to do that, we should make sure that we have buy-in and input from folks in this community as we design and develop features.

Rather than asking community members to be maintainers of this theme (though, they are welcome to do so if they wish), it might be helpful to create an explicit group that we can ping when we need feedback and thoughts.

Proposal

I propose that we create a GitHub team for this repository called @pydata-community-representatives. Anybody that wishes to "represent" the interests of the pydata community as this theme is developed could be added to this group. Then when we want to ask "what do other folks think?" we can ping this group rather than pinging individuals, or expecting people to "just watch" the issues in this repository.

💯, lovely idea.
Some questions:

  1. Can we ping people we know are theme users here to see if they are interested to join the GH team?
  2. How do we find the ones we don't know about?

hmmm, we could start by looking at the list of "other sites using this theme" and opening an issue in each one asking for volunteers for this team?

Is it still a wanted feature ?
Cannot this be supported by the discussion section of Github repository ?

I think having a feedback dedicated section in the Discussions would be a good a good first step to collect feedback in an intentional way

I was asking myself should we make it an "announcement" category ? so that we can send a message for new releases and people can comment underneath ?
