IIRC, I think this is one of the site's custom CSS that's causing this.

This is a Quarto bug (or design issue) when code-overflow: scroll. We might be getting the same scroll behavior via CSS rather than a Quarto option, but it's present in Quarto either way. I am strongly opposed to code-overflow: wrap and think it's a terrible experience, especially on smaller screen sizes.
