Mouse jumps to the left-side window

Version 22.04 LTS, fully updated

I have seen this complaint in a number of issues, but for me no remediations have worked and it is still happening...

I have a laptop and two HDMI screens ordered:

The mouse often jumps to Screen 1 while I am moving it. It is just about OK in that mode, I have learned to deal with it.

BUT when the CPU is busy (say, vscode - window on Screen 2 - running a big Rust compile) the mouse jumps to screen 1 every few seconds, which makes the whole environment impossible to use until the CPU has calmed down.
