Tap into the post_init hook?

Is there a way that we can use the post_init hook in order to run additional scripts after a new project is initialized?

For example, is there somewhere that I can I tell pdm to run git init when pdm init finishes? I tried adding a post_init script under [tool.pdm.scripts] on the global project, but that didn't accomplish anything.
