Hi GitHub Support, I’m following up on my ticket from two weeks ago regarding my repository not appearing in search results on GitHub or Google. Despite receiving traffic and stars, it still doesn’t show up in searches. Could you please check if there’s any issue on GitHub’s end? It’s been over a week, and the problem persists. Repo link: https://github.com/starfishdata/starfish Thank you for your help! Best |

Hi GitHub Support,
I recently open-sourced a project by changing the visibility of the repo from private to public about a week ago. Since then, it's received stars and traffic, which shows that people are starting to use it. However, I’ve noticed a significant discoverability issue:
When I search for the exact repo name on GitHub, it doesn’t appear in the results.
When I search on Google using the exact repo name + "GitHub", it still doesn’t show up.
Other users have reported similar problems with indexing (e.g., this related discussion: https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/114869).
It seems like the repository hasn’t been properly indexed yet, either by GitHub or by Google. I understand some delay is expected, but it's been over a week and this seems unusual — especially when using the exact name.
Is there anything I can do to help ensure the repo is indexed properly, or could you check if there’s an issue on GitHub’s end?
Repo: https://github.com/starfishdata/starfish
Thanks so much!
