How to Fix ‘Permission Denied’ When Pushing to GitHub Repo?

Hi everyone my name is avlok, I’m getting a “Permission denied (publickey)” error when I try to push code to my GitHub repository. I’ve already added my SSH key to GitHub. Any ideas what else could be causing this?

Based on my experience, two things worked as solutions:

1. When generating the SSH key, I matched the email on the GitHub setting.
   (GitHub: Settings → Access → Emails)

2. The public key had to be located at ~/.ssh/id_rsa with that exact name.
