Copilot Neovim Extension: "Copilot: Node.js too old. Upgrade to 18.x or newer"

I am using lunarvim with the copilot neovim extension. lvim --version gives

NVIM v0.10.2
Build type: Release
LuaJIT 2.1.1713484068

My node version is v16.18.0. When I try to run :Copilot setup, I get Copilot: Node.js too old. Upgrade to 18.x or newer.

Is there a way of getting around with this without upgrading node?
