I use the feed to discover new repositories. A feed of the names of people who are starring my repositories is a neat little dopamine hit, but has zero value for discovering new repositories.
I am following over 300 other github users, and the only activity I am seeing from them in my feed is notifications of who they are following. I only care about discovering new users to follow if I can actually see a feed of activity generated by those users if I were to follow them. The activity I'm interested in is monitoring what repositories other people are starring. This is immensely valuable information that I leverage to keep up with SOTA AI research and associated tooling. Following other users doesn't really have much value if the only information that generates for me is a feed of who they are newly "following". It defeats the purpose of following.
I sincerely hope this is a transient bug in the interface and not another attempt to "improve" the feed that is completely disconnected from how people use it.
