Audio Crackling & Slowdowns

I'm experiencing an issue with audio crackling and slowdowns in mGBA.

audioBuffers=4096

Setting this larger is counter intuitive, when audio sync is enabled buffering too much will reduce visual fluidity, in some scenario's. The Boot roms for instance visibly stutter, in the game being demonstrated it also makes the intro lag, particularly on the scene when the dragon is panning vertically.

It is not causing the audio to skip though on my system.

Combined with a cpu intermittently reducing to a low power state could result in such a large buffer to underflow though, though even locked to 1200mhz, my system isn't seeing that either.

Has this notebook had its bios and chipset driver updated since bought?

You really do like to drill down on weird things huh, Squall? While there's a chance you're right, the chances you are are quite low.

Yes, the audioBuffers being set too high with audio sync on can cause issues, it's not gonna be with crackling audio. The setting combination will tell mGBA to keep rendering things until the buffer is full. That can lead to video issues due to several frames trying to draw at once, with only the last one being actually shown. Also, severe input lag.

But in this case, the issue is probably something to do with the high res scaling. Turning it down will probably fix it, though it happening at only 3× with that GPU is a little weird.
