Hi Team,
Description:
Currently within Matomo, there is no way to define expected performance thresholds for goals. As a result, it’s difficult for users to evaluate whether or not they are meeting their objectives, especially when it comes to campaign performance, form submissions, or other conversion goals.
🧩 Why This Matters:
Users want to track progress toward KPIs directly in Matomo.
Without thresholds, it’s hard to contextualize goal performance — e.g., is 120 conversions this month good or below target?
Other platforms offer goal targets or thresholds, helping with automated evaluations and alerting when goals are not being met.
💡 Suggested Solution:
Add a “Target” Field in Goal Configuration:
When setting up or editing a goal, allow users to define a threshold/target number (e.g., 200 conversions/month).
Allow different targets per time period (e.g., monthly, weekly, quarterly) if feasible.
Visual Indicator in Goal Reports:
Show whether the goal is on track, below, or above target using visual cues (e.g., color bars, indicators).
Include a column for “Target” vs “Actual” in the goal report table.
Optional Alert Integration:
Let users create a custom alert if a goal falls below or exceeds a defined threshold.
✅ Benefits:
Makes it easier for users to monitor and react to performance trends
Helps agencies and partners report to clients against defined KPIs
Adds a layer of business value interpretation on top of raw analytics
