Description

As an IETF volunteer, to make it easier to remember my obligations and act on them as a volunteer that is not in a formal AD, chair, or edit role, it would be nice to identify datatracker users assigned to review a specific revision of a draft for a given draft status page. Additionally, on a user profile page, it would be very beneficial to see a list of them, and have the ability to post a link when complete (a link could point to the a mailarchive post or a PR in a VCS like GitHub or GitLab).

This is a bigger feature and I have made the smallest of contributions thus far, I would really enjoy helping to design and implement this incrementally if possible. @david-waltermire and I have discussed it a few times, and it would greatly help us volunteer in the IETF.

To be clear - this would be for things like raising your hand in a working group meeting agreeing to do a review of a particular document (as opposed to being assigned a review as part of a review team/directorate)?

That's exactly correct. I am the prime customer for such a feature. It is actually difficult to piece this info together and other information I find in datatracker, so I often forget until, well, right before or during an IETF meeting. Do you think this idea is worthwhile?

Several people have suggested things like this over time. Some have suggested that review teams like genart or secdir accept unsolicited reviews, but that only addresses capturing the result, not tracking the assignment.

There's also a question about what the datatracker should capture, preserve, and display - I think it's likely if we went down this road, we would want to have a mechanism similar to "propose slides" where a review would be posted once a WG chair or someone in similar approved it.

Tracking the reviews someone wants to do is a separable problem.
